Illustrated with one page diagram showing various sports in action. 12mo, 63pp; printed paper wrappers. This monthly was mainly for high school English teachers and English learners to improve their English abilities, edited by professors at universities, the first issue published in 1945. This issue includes the first part of Mark Twain's famous story "The Jumping Frog of Calaveras County", Twain text excerpt runs from pp 14-16 and with extended notes pp 17-20. Also includes W. H. Auden's poem "Refugee Blues" (12 stanzas, pp 30-31). Also includes a crossword puzzle for beginners listed as "Contest No. 30".
