About This Item
Sarah Campbell Blaffer Gallery, University of Houston, Houston TX, 1988. Book. Near Fine. Wrappers. Published as a 32 page newspaper format in conjunction with the exhibition at the Sarah Campbell Blaffer Gallery, University of Houston, May 31-July 31, 1988. As the paper is still bright white, it must be printed on archival paper made to look like newsprint, rather than on newsprint itself. A single fold through the center of the paper (as newspapers are traditionally folded) and some minor wear are all that mark this increasingly rare piece of Schnabel ephemera that dates to his first major return to Texas after his triumphs in the New York art world. 17 full page (sometimes double page) black and white illustrations, a checklist of the exhibition, an appreciative essay on the artist, and brief memories about him told by Houston art world people who recall Schnabel the student and ambitious Houston artist. A scarce piece of artist's ephemera..
