Light toning at the spine and edges, cover with a bit of rubbing and soil, spine ends gently bumped, very good or a bit better. Copy number 278 of 300 copies Signed by the author facing the title page. This copy additionally Inscribed there to author Mary McCarthy and her husband (using a different pen): "To Mary + Jim. Love, [crossing out "James"] Jim." Upon Farrell's death, McCarthy wrote a tribute, "For Jim Farrell's Funeral," for the November 8, 1979 issue of *The New York Review of Books*. A nice association.
