London, Pemberton. 1724 & 1723. . Together 3 volumes, 8vo. First work: 2 vols, fourth edition of vol. I, second edition of vol. II, vol. I with ads before title, vol. II with half-title and errata leaf at end. Second work: First edition. complete but with erratic pagination (pages 136-139 not used), contemporary mottled calf gilt, red sprinkled edges, vol. II lacks label, spines rubbed, light wear to tops of spines, a very good set.
The Scottish journey is written in a series of letters to better inform those south of the border of the positive aspects of Scotland and the Scots. It proved very popular. Macky was a British spy who informed the British of French plans to restore James II to the throne.
