New York: Scribner, Armstrong & Co, 1874. Popular edition. Measures 5" x 7.75", 305 pages, with 20 engraved illustrations not included in the pagination. In its original Victorian binding. Embossed decorative border on the boards and spine, with gold titling and decoration on the spine. The book is in good condition. Minor wear to the boards and spine with gently bumped corners. Foxing to the endsheets. Light scattered soiling throughout. The binding is cracked at page 77 with two small tears. Page 13 has been reattached and has a small one inch tear at the edge.

Synopsis
Journey to the Centre of the Earth, also translated as A Journey to the Interior of the Earth, is a classic 1864 science fiction novel by Jules Verne. The story involves a German professor (Otto Lidenbrock in the original French, Professor Von Hardwigg in the most common English translation) who believes there are volcanic tubes going toward the center of the Earth.
