[iv], 522pp. Hinges and text tight & intact. Leaves clean without foxing. Illustrated with 5 tinted, lithographed, tissue protected plates including engraved frontispiece portrait after daguerreotype by Matthew Brady; engraved head-pieces and text illustrations and folding map at rear. Small tear in map repaired with archival tape on verso. Some rubbing to spine ends & corners. Ink stamp of C. S. Schultz who was a 19th century financeer & world traveller from Montclair, N. J. Africa; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; 522 pages .
