London: Kegan Paul, Trench, & Co., 1885. First edition. Hardcover. Very good. Thick octavo (standard sized). Slight wear to edges and corners of boards. Rebound in red library cloth with gilt letting on spine. NOT ex-library. lxv, 587 p. w/2 maps (1 at rear, folding, backed in canvas), frontis, 30 illustrations. Approx. 1/3 of the book is appendices of pertinent and interesting supplementary material to the Journal itself. The Journal covers the dates from 10 Sept. 1884 to 14 Dec. 1884, the last entry Gordon made, though the city did not fall till late the following month.
