In 1835, Parker, a Baptist missionary, accompanied a fur trading party from Council Bluffs to Walla Walla. His journal describes manners and customs of the local Indians,geography,climate, HBC traders, early missions and settlements. Parker's map is thought to be the first accurate map of Oregon's interior.
