London: For G.G.J. And J. Robinson, 1793. First Edition. Octavo. In two volumes, half-title, 502pp. and 617(1)pp., folding map in volume two " A map of General Dumourier's Campaign on the Meuse in 1792 in color. John Moore was an eighteenth-century Scottish physician. He had become bored with no further opportunities left for him in Scotland. at the age of 43, Moore left his wife and young family to set out on a tour through France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Italy that was to last 4 years and transform his life. He had the opportunity to travel to France with James George, the Duke of Hamilton and his young son who had become ill and needed to find a better climate. He invited the author and one of the author's son to travel to with him. Bound in 19th century 3/4 maroon morocco over maroon cloth, raised bands gilt, lettering gilt within three compartments, top edge cut all others uncut, a very good wide margined set.
