About This Item
Monmouth, IL: S.B. McQuown, 1925. Real Photo Post Card [9 cm x 14 cm] Divided back. Unused and in fine condition. Nice view of the Smith home in Nauvoo. Nauvoo was founded in 1839 by about 5,000 Mormons who came to western Illinois not as ordinary settlers but as religious refugees fleeing for their lives from their former settlements in Missouri. Under Smith's leadership, the community grew from a sprawling refugee camp into a unique and large city.
