"Richard Bach with this book does two things. He gives me Flight. He makes me Young. For both I am deeply grateful." - Ray Bradbury, from the inner front jacket flap. "People who make their own rules when they know they're right... people who get a special pleasure out of doing something well (even if only for themselves)... people who know there's more to this whole living thing than meets the eye: they'll be with Jonathan Seagull all the way. Others may simply escape into a delightful adventure about freedom and flight. Either way it's an uncommon treat." - from the inner front jacket flap.
"This book is a new and valuable citizen in that very wondrous world ruled by St. Exupery's Little Prince. I suspect all of us who visit the worlds of Jonathan Seagull will never want to return." - Ernest K. Gann, from the rear outer jacket.
Synopsis
Jonathan Livingston Seagull, written by Richard Bach, is a fable in novella form about a seagull learning about life and flight, and a homily about self-perfection. First published in 1970 as "Jonathan Livingston Seagull — a story", it became a favorite throughout the United States. By the end of 1972, over a million copies were in print, Reader's Digest had published a condensed version, and the book reached the top of the New York Times Best Seller list where it remained for 38 weeks.
Reviews
Though the inspiring tale of one seagull who realises there is so much more to flying than most realise, this book puts beautifully into words and stunning pictures our largely untapped potential hidden within the gift of life.
awesome theme and awesome way of narrating the story!
