About This Item

MP3 Audio CD. Renowned British humorist, and creator of the Jeeves and Blandings Castle novels, P. G. Wodehouse wrote many other books that are not as well-known, but are considered today to be equally funny and unpredictable. One of these was Jill the Reckless, a novel initially published under the title The Little Warrior, in 1920. This book is one of Wodehouse's more extensive works, consisting of more than 400 pages, and presenting a story that is quite typical to the British author's style and humor.

The main characters of the story are Jill Mariner and her childhood friends, Wally Mason and Freddie Rooke. The whole plot revolves around Jill, who has to deal with heartbreak and the inconvenience of living with her relatives. Also, she is faced with a more difficult prospect than she may have anticipated, as she moves to America, and has to deal with a very different world here.

Despite it being quite long, Wodehouse's story will never cease to entertain and surprise his readers. Through believable characters who follow their own complex plot lines and unique aspirations, as well as Wodehouse's distinctive style, as he guides all his characters quite masterfully into their specific roles, Jill the Reckless quickly becomes a captivating tale with plenty of humor and enjoyment in store, as well as a solid, well-thought out storyline.

Even though this isn't Wodehouse's very best book, it is also far from being considered among his less enjoyable novels. The author makes sure that at least part of the story is taken quite seriously, despite plenty of Wodehouse's trademark humor making its way into the dialogue

In many ways, it can be said that Jill the Reckless has everything you can expect from a great book you can enjoy, whether reading it at home, curled up in a blanket on a stormy day, or while on a long journey.
