Armitage, a major graphic artist, theatre and music impresario, was indeed a good friend to Stravinsky after the Russian composer came to the U.S. Nice association, as Armitage at this time was sponsoring ballets by Martha Graham and others in Los Angeles. Armitage - a book designer and graphic artist as well - wrote many books, including on Stravinsky, Gershwin and others.
