About This Item
Sydney: Doubleday, 1995. Paperback thick octavo, very good condition, edges little rubbed, minor edgewear. 462 pp. (This copy: Jesus of the Apocalypse: The Life of Jesus After the Crucifixion, by Barbara Thiering. The Softback Preview [TSP] bookclub paperback edition, a reprint of the Doubleday hardback.) A controversial biography of Jesus, by Barbara Thiering, an Australian divinity scholar, University of Sydney. Using the pesher method of decoding two separate levels of meaning found in the Dead Sea Scrolls, she unravels the mysteries of the Book of Revelation, the last book of the New Testament. She believes that Jesus did not die on the cross but that he and his sons were involved in the evolution of the new underground Christian religion. A sequel to her 'Jesus the Man'.
