In the publisher's original cloth with the original, very scarce, unclipped dust wrapper. This novel was written by the popular H. Rider Haggard, best known for his novel 'King Solomon's Mines'. This adventure and romance story is set in South Africa during the conflict between the Boers and the English and follows the remarkable heroine, Jess.Publisher's advertisements to the rear. In the publisher's original cloth with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally excellent with only slight shelf wear. Bookplate belonging to 'Miss Helen C. Anderson Glenlivet' to the front pastedown with the odd spot and a bookseller's label to the rear pastedown. The wrap is excellent with very small closed tears and light creasing to the extremities, marks and the odd very minor chip. Archival tape repair to the verso. Internally firmly bound with generally bright pages and spotting to the front and rear with the odd spot throughout. Spotting to the fore edge. Fine
