In original brown cloth covered boards, gilt decoration to the front panel, colour illustrated dustjacket. The book is richly illustrated, in colour and black-and-white, with both ancient engravings and maps and magnificent photographs of the city and its holy places specially taken for this book. Over 200 illustrations. Rubbing of the book corners and back strip edges. Age toning of the text block edges. Creasing of the top dustwrapper edge with a little chipping also present to the top back strip edge. Slight browning of the fold over panels. Size: 4to 9¾" - 12" tall. 288 pages.
