About This Item

Boston:: Little, Brown & Company, February, 1952.. 4th Printing.. Hardbound . BINDING/CONDITION: pale blue cloth; some fading to the cloth along the top and bottom edges, otherwise a Very Good book, with a Very Good dust jacket; publisher's price on the jacket flap is intact.. 8vo (about 8.25 inches tall) . Description: Dust jacket by George Salter. The first printing was in January, 1952; this fourth printing just one month later. Jefferson Selleck, a comfortable self-satisfied man with a sudden change in health faces a future with two one-ounce drinks a day, no golf, no hunting, no business, no phone calls. He decides to take stock in his life and dictates to a tape recorder given to him as a Christmas gift. He talks of his first love, hunting friendships, ... After Selleck's death, his physician and friend takes on the memoirs, and brings his own perspective to the life. The publisher's blurb tells us the author was born in Nebraska in 1913 and (at that time) lived in Aspen, Colorado. His first novel, Beachhead on the Wind, was published in 1945; his second, Snowlide, in 1950.
