Massive, profusely illustrated guide to folk toys from across Japan's history, arranged by region of origin. In 516 pages with decorative endpapers, maps, & black-and-white & full-color photographs throughout. Orig. published in Japanese in 6 parts in 1962, this is the First English-language Edition, First Printing, all in one volume, from 1965. With blue silk-covered boards lettered in bright gilt to spine, this hardcover small quarto is in Near Fine condition: exceptionally clean & bright, binding strong & straight, pages white with just a whisper of tanning to edges, but completely unmarked. Very mild rubbing & sunning to upper & lower extremities & tiny area of cloth loss in front joint near head of spine. The unclipped DJ is VG- (minus): bright & colorful, but with chipping along top edges, heavier to back cover; nicely protected in new clear mylar cover free!
