Book inscribed and signed by Ganri Yamashita, presented to Maurice F. Weisner. Yamashita was state minister for defense and protégé of prime-minister Kakuei Tanaka. He was elected to the House of Representatives 10 times during the Liberal Democratic Party's 38-year rule. Weisner was a United States four-star admiral who served as vice chief of Naval Operations from 1972 to 1973; commander in chief, U.S. Pacific Fleet from 1973to 1976; and commander in chief, United States Pacific Command from 1976 to 1979. During World War II, Weisner is credited with the sinking of a Japanese destroyer escort. The gift tissue (folded around dustjacket) also inscribed and signed to Admiral Weisner, this time by Admiral Heshima, Japanese Navy.
