Washington, DC: United States National Museum, 1891-1914. First edition.. A bright and clean set in near fine condition.. Pp. 2800; numerous black-and-white photo-plates, halftones and text-figures (line-drawings). Early tan cloth, lettered in black on the spine, thick lg 8vo. This work contains some 65 papers on Japanese fishes by David Starr Jordan all from the Proceedings of the U. S. National Museum beginning with volume 14 (1891) and ending with volume 46 (1914). This is a unique set of Japanese fish papers by David Starr Jordan that have been assembled and custom-bound in two thick volumes. At the beginning of each volume is a bound-in handwritten list in pencil of the papers in each volume. There is a white call number on the spine but no other library or ownership marks internally or externally.
