Plate 71 has a slight crease to the right edge, with a "crack" of loss of ink. This would seem to have occurred at the time of printing. Overall in very nice condition. . A pair of copper engravings of the heavens. The first shows Three globes are floating in the sky, an active seaside scene across the bottom including boats, an old coastal village scene, etc. The globes show the Anteciens, the Perieciens and the Antipodes. These are two small to have been of use to a navigator, and were purely decorative. This is numbered plate 49 to the corner. The second, labeled plate 71 shows a pastoral scene, above which there is a disc showing the sun and the astrological symbols. These were issued by A.M. This copy is printed on vélin d'Arches. 26 original copper engravings by CP Josso, including frontispiece, engraved title, 6 full page engravings, 12 vignettes and 6 end pieces (One for each of the six parts that the work is divided into). Pale green slipcase, with a matching pale green folder within. This has a paper label to the spine. (this is a little darkened). Inside this is a soft cover with title printed to the front. The text and illustration are in sheets (as published) in 16 un-stiched gathers. Half title, limitation (Justification du tirage). End papers from time of binding. Bound in to the rear are two additional leaves, printed in Circa 1816 and each offering a hymn composed by Joseph Wiggins. He was a member of Stretton Friendly Society (Quakers). The faux leather cover is clean and bright.
