[Japanese American] Archive of four wartime documents produced by sources including the War Relocation Authority, which was tasked with overseeing the deportation and internment of approximately 100,000 Japanese Americans in camps scattered across the western states. Documents include:

"A Voice That Must Be Heard" (a quotation from Secretary of War Henry L. Stimson). Extracts from statements regarding Americans of Japanese ancestry by President Roosevelt, Stimson, and others. Publisher [War Relocation Authority], 1943. n.p.: [War Relocation Authority], 1943. Staplebound pamphlet, 14 pages. Preface notes that "Approximately 100,00 people of Japanese descent are living today in War Relocation centers... The program has been sanctioned by the Department of Justice as sound from the standpoint of national security and has been approved by the War Manpower Commission as a contribution to national manpower needs." Apparently, this work was published to provide reassurance about the safety of allowing some Japanese American internees to work outside of the camps. Very good.

At the center are 16 pages of black and white War Relocation Authority photographs showing Japanese American evacuation and internment. Important 1942 documentation of the Japanese-American Internment process. Overall, very good condition.

Typed "Office Memorandum" from the War Relocation Authority Office at the Relocation Branch in of Rohwer internment camp in Arkansas. June 3, 1943. Memorandum reads "Effective this date all Evacuees, except regular employees working on the Mail, Ice, Baggage and Farm trucks will sign in and out on a register at the Police Station. Caucasians escorting Evacuees in or out will be held responsible for such registration. This information is necessary for the population report and your cooperation will be appreciated." Very good condition.
