Small octavo; pp; xvi, 280, (vi), ads; folding map, frontispiece and thirty-seven black and white plates; original pictorial terra-cotta cloth, stamped in black and gilt;. A remarkable relic of Gilded Age publishing offering a look at the unknown places of the World. Taylor compiled and arranged this volume. Bears the bookplate and signature of Leon G. Bagley of Rutland Vermont. Bagley was a prominent citizen and manager of the Western Union Telegraph Office. The Library Of Travel, Exploration & Adventure Edited by Bayard Taylor.
