A scarce, first edition of this documentation of The Leslie Steven lecture delivered by Lord David Cecil on the subject of Jane Austen in 1935. First edition, in the publisher's original paper wraps. Scarce. A documentation of the Leslie Stephen Lecture of 1935, which was taken by biographer, historian and scholar, Lord David Cecil. The Leslie Stephen Lecture was a bi-annual lecture at the University of Cambridge which had taken place since 1907 and included a different literary subject, exploring their life, ethics and works. Named after critic and biographer, Leslie Stevens. This lecture took place on 1st May 1935.With a postcard of Jane Austen's Tomb, with a previous owner's inscription dated 1963, loosely inserted. In the publisher's original paper wraps. Externally, very smart, with light edge wear and a touch of age toning. Slight split to the spine and the odd mark to the wraps. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Very Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
