Large colour and black and white illustrations to every page, alternate openings, some full page. Story of a small boy who runs away from a cruel governess. Set in Somerset. Neat name of Margery Fisher at top of front endpaper (well known reviewer and historian of children's books, author of many books on the subject). A Fine copy in Fine DUSTWRAPPER, not price clipped. Maitland (b. Hampshire 1935) illustrated Philippa Pearce's A Dog So Small and Mrs Cockle's Cat (for which he won the Kate Greenaway Medal in 1961) and several of Leon Garfield's novels for children.
