About This Item
London: Grayson & Grayson, 1934. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Good/Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Both a critical study of Ulysees and a first hand record of its creation from Joyce's friend Budgen who accompanied, and painted, him during the years of its writing. One portrait, from 1919, forms the frontispiece and there are four further plates showing illustrations to Ulysses by Budgen. Stock toned. Foxing only occasional, heaviest to title and endpapers but text generally clean and bright. No inscriptions. Quarter cream cloth, a little grubby, with blue paper-covered boards, showing light shelfwear only. Blue paper title label to spine, with two further labels laid in to rear. Scarce first printing, rendered more so by presence of d/j. This unclipped but well worn to edges with a number of closed tears and some loss along folds. Fading/toning to spine. This is a charity sale for Friends Of Morston Church (reg.1099831). 8vo. 320pp

About Dodman Books
Formerly Journobooks, my original speciality was books about journalism, journalists, newspapers and other media (hence the name) and I still have a good stock of hard-to-find books in that field. Over time I have added a wide and eclectic variety of other collectible volumes alongside a general secondhand stock. I am a collector as well as a seller so know all about the pitfalls of online buying as well as the joys. I will try to make your buying experience as easy and as pleasant as possible.
