Dublin: M.H. Gill & Son, Ltd., 1950. One of the most famous and influential books of modern Irish history. Mitchel, a militant revolutionary, was convicted of sedition and transported to Tasmania by the British. Escaping to New York, he published his diary and founded "The United Irishman." It has been reprinted many times in the past 100 years. No publication date. Per OCLC, this is most probably the edition of 1950. A Near Fine copy. Green cloth binding with gilt lettering. Clean text; xlvii, 463 pages. Preface by Arthur Griffith. Frontis illustration and 36 others within.The text is fresh and nicely bright. Laid-in is a complementally copy card from the publisher. Corners lightly bumped; occasional wrinkle or turned-down corner. The dustwrapper is complete and unclipped, with light edgewear at the head of the spine. Rear (white) panel is toned. In an archival plastic protector. A superior copy.. Reprint Edition. Hard Cover. Near Fine/Near Fine. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
