About This Item
N.Y.: Horizon Press. Fine in Fine dust jacket. 1969. Reprint Edition. Hardcover. 279 pp; 8vo; green cloth in pictorial purple dust jacket. Published in the U.S. under it's original sub-title, The Star Rover. In his youth London was imprisoned for vagrancy. Terrible conditions and an item used for torture, a strait-jacket laced so tightly that it caused unbearable pain forms the basis for the title and plot of the book, coupled with the influence of his interest in the occult and re-incarnation. One of the victims of the 'jacket' is able, by the means of self-induced trances, to relive his former lives as a French nobleman, a skilled duellist, a hermit in the desert among other journeys. .
