NY: Knopf. Very Good in Very Good- dust jacket. 1952. First Edition. Hardcover. Orange/cream decorative boards, dark grey topstain. Stated first edition. PO name/info stamped to ffep and rear endpage. Faint bit of sticker or plate remnant to ffep. Slight foxing, primarily to endpages/edges. Spine ends softened, board edges rubbed/sunned. Hint of a lean. Hinges sound. The DJ in mylar is chipped/edgeworn/rubbed, rubbed through at flap folds, slightly foxed to flaps/verso. Flap price $2.50. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
Synopsis
Ross Macdonald's real name was Kenneth Millar. Born near San Francisco in 1915 and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Millar returned to the U.S. as a young man and published his first novel in 1944. He served as the president of the Mystery Writers of America and was awarded their Grand Master Award as well as the Mystery Writers of Great Britain's Silver Dagger Award. He died in 1983.
