The first illustrated edition of Samuel Rogers' poem with illustrations by J. M. W. Turner and T. Stothard First illustrated edition of Italy, A Poem by Samuel Rogers in J. Mackenzie signed full mottled calf binding.With gilt to the boards and spine.Includes illustrations by J. M. W. Turner and Thomas Stothard throughout the text. 'Italy' was inspired by his visits there in the early nineteenth century. It was not an immediate success, thus the publication of the revised and enlarged edition with illustrations. Samuel Rogers was an English poet of the Romantic era. Prior owner's ink inscription to the first free endpaper addressed to Dorothy Tennant dated 1890. From the personal library of Tennant, an English painter of the neoclassical era. In full J. Mackenzie calf binding. Externally, very smart. There is some minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. There is slight spotting to the fore edge. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Prior owner's ink inscription to the first free endpaper dated 1890. Very Good Indeed
