. Issey Miyake fue un diseñador de moda japonés. Era conocido por sus diseños de ropa, exposiciones y fragancias basados en la tecnología, como L'eau d'Issey, que se convirtió en su producto más conocido. Estudió diseño gráfico en la Universidad de Arte Tama de Tokio y se graduó en 1964. Presentó diseños en un concurso de moda en el Bunka Fashion College de Tokio. Sin embargo, no ganó un concurso debido a su falta de habilidades para hacer patrones o coser. Después de graduarse, se matriculó en la escuela Chambre syndicale de la couture parisienne de París y fue aprendiz de Guy Laroche como asistente de diseñador.
