MacDonagh (1862-1946) was a prominent journalist who somehow also found time to write a dozen books; this work celebrates the Irish soldiers serving hnourably in the ranks of the Empire that rules them (a complicated relationship! cf. Wellington's love for his Irish troops). This is a Very Good copy of the First Edition. Green cloth binding with black lettering. Introduction by John Redmond, M.P. Clean text; 138 pages. Appended at the rear is a two-page "Appeal" for the Nuns of Ypres. Mildly bumped. No dustwrapper. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. First Edition.. Hard Cover. Very Good Plus/No Jacket.
