The work was shown both in the United Kingdom and the United States and won the Christopher Ewart-Biggs Memorial Prize. Following the series' transmission on RTÉ, the Irish national broadcaster, Kee won a Jacob's Award for his script and presentation. The TV series was the impetus for the production of this book. Still the best book to consult on the historical run-up to the 'troubles'.
