Houghton Mifflin Co., Riverside Press. Boston, New York. 1995. First Edition, date on title page. 2 volumes; Vol. I: xiii 544 pages; Vol. II: 570 pp. The red covers are in very good plus condition. There is no noticeable bumping on the edges. There is a faint line on the front of Volume I and three small spots with very mild color loss on Vol. II. The author and title are in bright gilt on the spine of both volumes. The bindings are solid. The tan dust jackets of both volumes are frayed along the edges with a couple of small chips in them. They are sunned/faded in spots, most noticeably on the spines. The jacket of volume II also has a couple of small spots on the front. The interior of both volumes is in very good plus to near fine condition. All pages are clean and bright with no writing. The only blemish detected on the interior is a couple of small spots on the inside of the front cover of Vol II. The books appear to be unread, the page fore-edges are untrimmed, some are unopened. The top page edges are gilt. Vol. I contains a color frontis and 4 illustrations; Vol. II contains a black/white frontis and 5 illustrations.
