Zweig's timeless story, set in Germany, in the aftermath of the first World War. This copy is signed by Peter Kraus on the front endpaper: "Christmas 1990 / Best Wishes / Peter Kraus." Laid in is an Ursus note card with this message in Peter's hand: "With Thanks for your / continued interest in / Ursus Books." Bound in elegant yellow boards with some sunning around the edges.
