About This Item

MP3 Audio CD. Enjoy Another Gem from P.G. Wodehouse: The Intrusion of Jimmy

The Intrusion of Jimmy is quite possibly one of the best novels written by P.G. Wodehouse, often compared in its excellence to novels such as Very Good Jeeves, and The Indiscretions of Archie. Through coincidences, quick witted decisions from opportunistic characters and quite a fair amount of silliness, this is one book that will certainly not fail to entertain you.

The novel follows the chaotic adventures of Jimmy Pitt, a quick thinking young protagonist who manages to keep calm despite circumstances unfolding to create events that could quickly cause anyone else to be overrun with panic. Jimmy stumbles into a lot of trouble when discovered to have broken into a flat as a result of a bet, and manages to fall in love with an attractive young lady on a transatlantic liner.

Through typical romantic farces that have become distinguishable as a main theme in Wodehouse's novels, The Intrusion of Jimmy always seems to show the most volatile of situations deflated in shocking and unexpected ways, culminating with the many unusual and humorous schemes that take place at Dreever Castle in England, where the cast of characters finds itself in the midst of impostors, thieves, detectives and all manner of entertaining protagonists.

Another curious theme followed by the novel depicts, in a curious scene, how life unfolds at the turn of the 20th century in the Strollers' Club in New York ? a prestigious club where the enjoyment of theater and polite conversation hides clever plots and schemes worthy of Wodehouse's Jeeves novels.

Without exaggerating, one can place The Intrusion of Jimmy among some of the best works put forth by Wodehouse in that period, the fun and intriguing characters, unexpectedly hilarious plot twists and Wodehouse's fine narrations and descriptions making it well worth reading.
