London: Chatto & Windus, 1949. Hardback. Very Good. FIRST UK EDITION. 8vo, pp. 2471, (1). Blue cloth, spine lettered in gilt. Sunned at spine and in patches (corresponding to DJ losses), extremities bruised, bump to bottom corner of bottom board, edges tanned with a few spots. Offsetting and spotting to feps, occasional spots to text block, else, clean and bright. Arch one-page Punch review, 'Faulknerian Coils' (05.10.1049, p. 370) by Richard Mallett laid in (folded, toned, creased at bottom edge). In Sydney Greenwood's pictorial dust jacket with deep strains of the Southern Gothic: spine and rear panel browned, joints tender, various losses, with largest, sadly, to front panel, with top half of 'Int' in Intruder lacking. Very good/ good-only
