Description:
New York: Appleton and Company, 1881. Hardcover. Near Fine. First American edition. Translated by Thomas Hutchinson Waller and Henry Richardson Proctor. Quarto. Brown cloth boards with gilt spine lettering. Very good with toning to the boards and edgewear. With the ownership name of Edward Bennett Rosa, the inventor or co-inventor of the respiration calorimeter, curve tracer, and ammeter, as well as the namesake of an award presented by the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Laid in are sheets containing notes related to the text, presumably made by Rosa, as well as a few scattered notations to the text. An interesting association copy.
