These creatures live in deep and shallow water, salt, brackish, and fresh water, lying loosely on the surface, attached to the surface or burrowing in mud, sand, wood, clay, or stone. Several groups, among which are the scallops, are able to swim. Covers the following families and species: Glycymeridae, anonidae, mytilidae, pectinidae, ostreidae, tellinidae, semelidae, solenidae, mactridae, cardiidae, gariidae, veneridae, ungulinidae, lyonsiidae, erycinidae, myidae, hiatellidae, pholadidae, teredinidae..
