Published at the dawn of the Midcentury Modern movement. Notably, Contributing Editor and legendary Knoll Director of Design George Nelson was instrumental in introducing modernism to middle-class America by way of using Interiors as a mouthpiece. Interiors' list of several hundred advertisers in the back of each issue reads like a who's who of modernist designers - and of course the ads themselves were illustrated with many now collectible interior design examples. Special features in this issue include an 8-page photo-illustrated article on the newly opened Knoll Associates Lone Star Showroom in Dallas, with room after room reflecting the modernist style, and an 11-page illustrated article on car design.
