X-Ray Book Co. & Toxic Coyote Press, 2008. Signed Limited Edition . Soft cover. New/New. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Mark Faigenbaum. Suggestions prepared by the United Metaphysical Publication Chapter of the Western Branch of the brothers and sisters annex of the philosophical order of the Bureau of Weights and Standards Redemption Division. Mixed media. New and unread. Gift quality. Authentic vintage science digest used as structure, is in clean very good condition. Letterpressed/Illustrated cardstock cover is in new condition. In original clear bag with limitation sticker, as issued. Further preserved in an acid-free archival bag and additional backing board. A spectacular addition to any library or archive, or gift to an avid collector. This is a very unique item. Using a vintage copy of Science Digest (June, 1965), artist Mark Faigenbaum and letterpress designer Johnny Brewton have put together quite a production. See photos for visual presentation. Vintage digest with letterpress dust jacket. 20 original prints tipped in throughout the digest. Each print is either initialed (MAF) or fully signed by Mark Faigenbaum, and numbered (match limitiation) by hand. Custom table of contents page giving title to each print. The digest itself is a neat thing by itself. Mark Faigenbaum works in mixed media and printmaking. He is drawn to objects that physically reflect the passage of time-decaying newspapers, old books, damaged photographs, outdated technical drawings and discarded machine parts. He combines these assorted materials using layering, repetition and assemblage to create shapes and patterns that move beyond purely physical representation to suggest invisible connections. His work has been shown nationally and internationally. He has twice been an artist in residence at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco and also at San Francisco Recycling and Disposal. Johnny Brewton of the legendary X-Ray Book Co. is famous for his gathering and offering of rare and limited pieces of conceptual art. As well as his keen sense of design and skills in the letterpress craft. Hunter Thompson, Tom Waits, Bukowski, Brautigan, Billy Childish, COOP, John Crespo, Picasso Gaglione, and Fante are just of few of those who have appeared in his zines. Each issue is limited typically to 100 numbered copies signed by many contributors, with often an additional 26 lettered copies signed by most if not all that are living. Each offering is uniquely bound and/or put together. I will gladly answer any questions.
