First edition thus (i.e., designed by Bruce Rogers), 1/419 copies (this #41). 12mo. xxxii, 160 pp. Title page printed in red and black, running title, some initial letters, and chapter tail-pieces printed in red. Originally printed in France in 1627, Naude's "advice" was translated by Evelyn in 1661. Very good. Original leather-backed marbled boards, spine (several scuff marks) with ornaments and title, publisher's slipcase with printed paper label on spine numbered "41" in ink. (10572).

1903 limited edition hardback in slipcase as pictured. A very handsome quarter bound edition from the Riverside Press. Copy number 228/419. Binding is firm. Marbled boards and tan leather spine with dark brown embossed design and printing show light edge wear. Light scuffing of spine. Owner's bookplate on front fixed endpaper. Rough cut text block is wavy and shows light tanning at edges. Text itself is clean and unmarked. Slip case is rubbed and shows light edge wear.
