1. !!!NOT 1881 EDITION!!! This is a rare 1873 first edition by Holland. Published by Macmillan (Oxford at the Clarendon Press). Hardcover. Title continues from above, ""EDITED AS A RECENSION OF THE INSTITUTES OF GAIUS"". The Preface and Introduction are in English; the rest in Latin. xxxvi + 1p.(corrigenda) + 240pp. Very lightly rubbed. Pressed gilt spine lettering, rust colored cloth. Blind-stamped line borders on covers. Very light spotting to feps. Small penciled signature of ""J. W. Simonton"" (Pa. Judge John W. Simonton) on the extreme top right margin edge of title page. Else clean, bright and tight.
