About This Item
This English actress born in South Africa and married to a Frenchman (becoming Moira Lister de Gachassin-Lafite, Vicomtesse d'Orthez) gained fame in many films of the 1940s and '50s, dramas and thrillers such as such as "Another Shore" (1948) and "Grand National Light" (1953), but is remembered for her many comedies such as "A Run for Your Money" (1949), "John and Julie" (1955) and "Joey Boy" (1965); her varied career continued strongly in popular radio and television shows. IPS, glossy heavy stock 3½" X 5½", n.p., n.y. [ca. 1970]. Fine. Lovely studio head-and-shoulders portrait of Lister in the 1960s, superbly inscribed and signed in blue fineline on the lower margin: "To Richard / Best Wishes / Moira Lister." Accompanied by a 8¼" X 11 3/4" mimeographed press release for her memoir "The Very Merry Moira" (London: Hodder and Stoughton, 1971). Very good. Original folds.
