An offprint copy of Prof Wills review of this book from The China Quarterly with additional afterthoughts in his handwriting is tucked in; Acclaimed as the only comprehensive collection to date in English of Chinese travel writing from the 1st-19th centuries, from Professor of Chinese at UCLA/ASSOCIATION: John E. Wills, Jr. 1936-2017, Longtime USC China Studies Professor was PO of this volume and has signed his full name to fep; this is probably the copy from which he wrote his review for The China Quarterly which is tucked in. Wills was a prolific scholar of works on relations between China and the West during the age of exploration; his book on the Ming-Qing transition period entitled 1688: A Global History. is now a classic
