Spine has 4 raised hubs, five compartments. Edges gilded in 22-karat gold. Satin ribbon bound-in. Book about 8½-inches wide by 11-inches high. Book privately printed for the members of The Classics of Medicine Library, with film prepared from an original 1798 edition. This edition is number 2231, as indicated on custom bookplate on first free endpaper. Condition: Except for custom bookplate signed by previous owner (a physician) and faint insignificant shelf wear, book is Fine, pristine. Book kept in bookcase in a temperature controlled room. A beautiful, leather, collectible book - in gift-giving condition. This book discusses the causes and effects of the disease discovered in England and became known as the Cow Pox.
