About This Item
1836 hardcover first edition in two volumes. Condition is Fair: main point in its favor is that it is complete. In old, likely original, blue blindstamped cloth. Vol. 1 spine missing lower half of cloth. Interior is moderately to heavily foxed, occasional pencil notes, no vandalism. Binding starting on vol.1 front hinge, all others holding well. American author who was quite famous in his day. For more info see biography by Henry A. Beers. Paginates: Vol.1: blank, 8(ads), viii, [4], 235, blanks; Vol.2: blanks, [4], 236, blanks. Please see images of the books you will receive. Notes: These volumes are the author's description of travels in the US and Europe. Heavily embellished I am sure.
