About This Item
Jamaica: The Arts Celebration Committee of the Ministry of Development and Welfare, 1962. Hardcover. First Edition. 5.5 x 8.25in. Each anthologized work is individually paginated, complete. Publisher's cloth boards. Signed and inscribed by one of the contributors, Carmen Manley, on the front endpaper: 'On the emergence of our island into the deep waters of the international scene as an independent country, it is with a deep sense of gratitude that one of the mean people of our land look back and remember those who have helped us to appreciate the values that are our own. To you Joe, I say thank you for the past years played in my own development. Carmen Manley.' Manley wrote several children's stories, plays, and here contributes the short story 'When Fly Bodder Mauger Mule.' VERY GOOD in Very Good dust jacket. The book itself shows marginal shelf rubbing of the extremities, endpapers with the slightest possible hint of toning, otherwise the binding is strong and tight, the text is clean and unmarked, and the boards remain bright and distinct. The dust jacket shows marginal shelf rubbing along the edges with hints of loss, slightly dust marked at the flap hinges, spine lightly tanned, otherwise remains bright, colorful, and distinct. As pictured.
