The Incredible Adventures of Professor Branestawm by Norman Hunter, with 76 illustrations by W. Heath Robinson. Hardback, 1933, first edition, published by John Lane The Bodley Head Ltd., London, 203 pages. In fair condition. Orange cloth boards and spine which show considerable wear, with much marking, scuffing and wear. Pictorial front board. Spine has some tearing at top and bottom. Inner hinges cracked, boards only lightly attached to textblock by cloth tabs and netting. Browning, scuffing and marking to page edges. Previous owner name in pencil on recto of FFEP. Several pages loose but all pages present. Some pages have tears and chips. Some marking to page surfaces, though no marginalia, underlining, etc. apart from a few pencil dots on contents page. See pictures for further information.

Synopsis

NORMAN HUNTER was born in 1899 in Sydenham, London. After leaving school he became an advertising copywriter. He also began, in 1915, giving performances of conjuring. His first Professor Branestawm book was published in 1933. After living in South Africa, he returned to England in 1969 where he lived by the river at Staines until his death in 1995.
