Among the artists contributing prints were, Chaim Gross, John Gross, Robert Gwathmey, Jacob Lawrence, and Ben Shahn. Folio, original color illustrated wrappers, spiral bound; Minor damage to wrapper near spine. One of a series of annual volumes published in conjunction with an annual ball, and New York, Artists Equity Association, 1958. Scarce. A near fine copy. Limited to 2000 copies.<br/> <br/> "First conceived in 1950 from an idea by Julio de Diego, Improvisations has been accepted as a novel and original medium by advertisers in sympathy with the ideals of the Artists Equity Association. The member-artists who illustrated this journal were in most cases selected by the advertisers from our membership list and were given complete freedom of expression. Each page was designed by the artist directly on the litho plate, thus making this a collection of original lithographs." -- The Editor.<br/> <br/>
